Be Nice to College Telemarketers

We all get them-those pesky dinnertime phone calls from people asking us for money. We're annoyed, and our meal's getting cold. So we mumble something obscene into the phone and abruptly hang up.
Even when our alma mater rings, and it's a student calling.
Well, now that I've been on the other side of the phone, I'll be nicer. My latest Chronicle of Higher Education column details my experience as a phone-a-thonner.
