Four college and university professors were recently named as recipients of the U.S. Professors of the Year Award. Finalists are honored for their dedication and innovation in the field of higher education.

The professors, who each receive a $5,000 prize, were selected for their outstanding commitment to teaching undergraduate students and their influence on teaching. A state Professor of the Year was also recognized in 40 states, the district of Columbia and Guam. This year's U.S. Professors of the Year winners were selected from a pool of more than 300 nominees. The program, created in 1981, is the only national initiative specifically designed to recognize excellence in undergraduate teaching and mentoring.Posted by Rhys Alexander
