Allen Grove over at About Dot Com has some good tips for visiting a college campus. And that's important. Because few things tell you whether you want to live on a college campus the way that visiting one does.

Grove has some very good suggestions. For starters, don't just take the guided tour; spend some time roaming the campus on your own, without a guide. You'll see things that otherwise you'd probably miss. He also points out the obvious: visit a class in the subject area you plan to major in and schedule a conferences with a professor. You'll get a much better feel for the academic life of the campus.

There's also some easy quality of life things you can look at. Eat in the dining hall and watch other students. Do you like the food? Is there much variety? Do students seem happy?
